This is the story of how there came to be a $1200 hole in the front bumper of my car.

I was coming back from Meijer in Warren, where I was intending to buy fennel seed to bake some rye bread (more on that later), and I decided to take 696 to 75 instead of my usual route of Mound Rd to get back to Hamtramck.

As I was merging on to 696W at Mound Rd, I checked my blind spot and turned on my signal. When I turned my head forward again after checking the blind spot, I heard screeching tires and saw the SUV in front of me come to a complete stop. So I slammed on the brakes, but I still hit the SUV. Downer...

I had never been in any collision before, and I consider myself to be a pretty good driver. I used to be a bus driver in Ann Arbor... so... I'm used to driving in some pretty ridiculous situations (snow, heavy traffic, hostage, etc).

So anyway, I was pretty upset. There was no police report filed, and my car was the only car to be damaged. I guess it was lucky that no one got hurt... even though karma will probably get the other dude for STOPPING on 696. But I wasn't bitter...

...until I got home and realized I had bought caraway seed instead of fennel seed. Super downer! But I baked the bread with the caraway seed anyway and it all worked out in the end.

I also like long walks on the beach.

I'm moving through my life trying to make the best out of every situation I come across. I try not to let things stress me out unless I can't help it, as I don't see the point in getting worked up about something you could otherwise let go on by.

I don't really fit into any kind of general definition, I enjoy what I want to, regardless of how that might effect peoples perception of me. Yes I know this sounds pretentious but... oh well.

I could go on and on and on about music- it's my true love. I'm super awesome about talking about the history of "classical" music and making it interesting and appealing, but obviously I love listening to and discussing everything.

I'm also super nice- really- probably too much so. It makes me super sad when people assume that I'm stand-off-ish, I'm just shy sometimes.

I'm an easy-going, outgoing kinda person. Good natured and kind if I do say so myself. I love to laugh, love to be around people who can make me laugh. I value the company of my friends and family very much. Lately I can feel myself growing into a better me. Everyday I try to evaluate myself and find ways of becoming greater. I am now at the age and mindset where I can put my pride aside and acknowledge my flaws and faults. I'm still far from perfection, but everyday I try to make a step in that direction.

I'm a pretty mellow guy. I don't judge people and I don't much like those who do. I mean, I try to stay true to my values and to do what I think is right (not always successfully), but everybody's got their own thing going on, and I'm not real big on criticizing someone because they're not like me. Way too much of that going on in the world.

I have a relationship with God, a handful of good friends and a pretty cool family. I think I want the same things we all do in a relationship. Iâ??m looking for companionship, friendship, passion, mutual support, someone to share private jokes with - you get the gist. Honesty is paramount!

Even though I'm 40 years old, I'm fairly new to adulthood. (Getting kind of good at it, though.) I've had a checkered past, to say the least, but over the last few years I've developed a new respect for myself and for others. Frequently, I find people frustrating, if only because they don't seem to think before they act; most don't even seem to discuss things, and worse, those who do don't take advantage of advice given to them by those who have more experience in said matters (or, for that matter, can think ahead and explain why what is about to happen is a Very Bad Idea). I used to have a deep well of compassion for those who get themselves into bad situations, but it's different now. Nowadays, I only help those who seem to be trying to make forward motion. I am tired of squandering my time and attention on those who would just waste it.

I'm introspective, sensitive, trying to be aware, artful, funny(I'm told), fit, a little bit shy and interested in all things close to the earth, natural and alternative.

I like fucking with gender perception. Boys who look like girls, girls who look like boys, people who look like people, it's all just wonderful. I once met a person who didn't think there were more than two genders and I didn't know if I should slap her or hug her in pity.

Lesbian is sometimes too restricting of a term, as I really want to date a trans guy at some point in my life. I like to identify as queer, since that covers any gender I may be attracted to at any given time.

I hate playing all sports except broomball and I hate watching all sports except for hockey. But only the Red Wings. Somehow I am becoming a hockey fan and it's kind of scaring me.

I am terribly amusing. I work as a retail manager, and my employees and customers adore me for my quick wit, sense of humor, and sense of fair play. I try to keep people on their toes, and love double entendres, claiming that I actually meant the OTHER meaning of it, no matter which one the person chooses to take for its meaning.

I like to play. Take that as you will, but mostly I mean I wrestle with people, mentally debate and challenge my friends and acquaintances, board games, video games, rpg's (though less so than in the past), and flirt. Yes, I consider flirting a game. Whether or not I take it seriously depends largely on the situation, but who doesn't feel good after being flirted with (assuming there is no creepiness involved)?

I love philosophical and theological debate. I also like chit chatting about poetry, music, art, science, and almost anything else that may come up. I am a bit of a dilettante, meaning, my interests fall in so many different areas as to make it hard for me to master anything, although, I have found a few things I absolutely love and have been able to continue to focus upon them for quite some time.

I like to work out. I am NOT, however, a fitness fanatic. I like to weight train a bit, run a bit, hike, backpack, and train in the martial arts. I am not terribly athletic, though. I lead a really balanced life and make sure that I don't fall into the trap of brawn over brains or brains over brawn. I find it terribly useful to be able to think my way out of a problem or power through it, if necessary.

I am a HUGE geek. I am getting a degree in Computer Programming. Eventually, I want to get a dual doctorate in Theology and Philosophy (mostly because I want the floppy sleeves and hood on my graduation gown :P). I read sci-fi and fantasy when I have time, but also much deeper fare. I am not terribly well read due to time constraints. All that "leading a balanced life" stuff gets in the way.

I am the Treasurer in the local chapter of the International Honor Society at my college (Phi Theta Kappa), but the Vice President of the entire Michigan region. I manage the money of the local chapter and plan the fund raisers. In the region, I go out and help other chapters pull off events throughout all of Michigan. Since getting this title, I've been WAY too busy.

I have decided to run for the International President of the International Honor Society recently. This campaigning is making me a very stressed out and under-rested individual. I am loving the excitement, but hating the inability to ever sleep in. Not even a little bit every once in a while.

I am terribly critical of myself, because I believe I am the only person that can directly affect change in my life. My friends assure me this is a terribly healthy attitude. Which the last two statements show that I truly understand what irony is. ;)

Guinness is my preferred beer. The only metal jewelry I will wear is made from steel. I like black clothing, but don't limit myself to ONLY black clothing. Emo people bore me and/or piss me off. Punk is NOT dead. It is fine for guys to wear pink. Tattoos are sexy (I have one). Singing along to the radio in your car is terribly cool. Winter is the best season in Michigan, but also the most boring. I wear Hugo Boss cologne.

5/20: I have firmly and finally decided that i wish only to associate with those that beleive that there is a God has accepted his son Jesus Christ as their savior and actively participates in worship. To some this may be rude, but i wish to get to know someone on a more personal spiritual level. Someone who beleives that the lord is at the center and consistantly puts him there. I am by no means in any rush for any commitment. What i am committed to is that he will place that special someone in my path somewhere sometime. I'm the typical quiet guy that normally keeps to him self. It's not that I'm anti-social or shy, just quiet in general. I'm also an MMO Junkie. Any new MMO that comes out, I'm bound to try it out at least during a free trial period. As of late I recently stopped playing Aion. It was a decent game, but I didn't like the grinding aspect that came along with it. I'll probably end up getting back into World of Warcraft, at least until I get a beta key for the new star wars MMO, or Secret World.

I'm a chick with an English degree who decided to be a scientist. And then the money ran out. So now I work at a library. Go figure.

I think people think I'm tough. Frankly, I want people to think that. Sometimes it's true. But most of the time it's not. I might be angry that I'm crying at The Bucket List, but I'm still crying at The Bucket List.

I've always wanted to be recognized in my field. My current project sort of puts me in that category, if only people knew about it. I guess all I want is a tiny bit of recognition for a job well done. Not accolades or awards, just someone saying, "hey it's cool what you're doing" or "thanks for working hard on this".

I love to read. I also enjoy true crime books, anything to do with forensic science or police work and some fantasy. I've recently read American Psycho, Less Than Zero and Rules of Attraction. Additionally, I've been reading some cool non-fiction by Steven Johnson, namely, Ghost Map and Emergence.

I write occasionally, but it's mostly in my blog now. I used to write short stories and poetry. Now I just write bitter, ironic and sometimes funny accounts of my life. I also have a professional blog for the library where I work. It's all about local music. I've recently become quite passionate about local music. I think everyone should check out their local music scene. Who knows what you'll find? I've found beauty, genius and great friends.

I have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor. Some might think it's mean, but I really do care about people. I joke the most with those I'm comfortable with. One of the things I fear the most is hurting people's feelings. That and drifting into space.

I currently have no car, and part of me kind of loves it while the other part is furious with the loving part. I'm getting a tremendous amount of exercise as well as reading time. However, if it isn't on Woodward or John R., I'm pretty much screwed. It's an exercise in patience.

I'm the youngest of three kids, two much older brothers. I'm sure I was spoiled, but not in the material sense. I think it was more attention in some ways, and distance in others. I felt sheltered sometimes, and completely free to do what I wanted others.

I like to do athletic things, though you may not know it to look at me. I prefer to work out alone, but play sports together. If I ever got a chance to be on a softball team for free, I'd jump at it.
